After sitting out last season to meet NCAA tranfer rulles, Cedric Jackson will finally be able to show Viking fans the skills that made him a standout among Gary Waters first recruiting class at CSU. A starter in each of his last two years at St. John's University in Queens, N.Y., he is a versatile scorer who uses his quickness to penetrate and create opportunities offensively, excelling at finishing around the basket. At the other end of the floor, his size and athleticism have helped to make him one of the strongest defensive players on the team.
PRE-CLEVELAND STATE:
Played in 54 games during his two seasons at St. John's, starting 35 times.
Started 10 of the 27 games he played during the 2005-06 season, averaging 4.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
Scored a season-high 12 points in the opener against Maryland-Eastern Shore (11/19/05).
Tallied 11 points with 10 rebounds vs. Hofstra (11/29/05) for his first career double-double.
Started 25 of the 27 games in 2004-05, averaging 4.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals.
Had 13 multi-steal games, including a career-high four against both Canisius (12/28/04) and North Carolina State (12/30/04).
Set his career scoring high with 16 points vs. Niagara (11/27/04).
Posted 10 points with six rebounds vs. Seton Hall (1/29/05) and 10 points and eight rebounds vs. Syracuse (2/23/05).
HIGH SCHOOL:
First team all-state selection as a senior at North Burlington (N.J.) High, playing for coach Herman Johnson.
Averaged 26.0 points a game as a senior en route to being named first team all-county, first team All-South Jersey (Courier Post & Newark Star Ledger) and first team All-Area (Trenton Times).
Won the Slam Dunk title at the New Jersey North-South All-Star game.
Averaged 21.7 points as a sophomore to earn second team All-South Jersey kudos from the Courier Post.
