Vikings Tied for Third After Two Rounds of IPFW Fall Classic

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Cleveland State fired school-record rounds of 277-277 and is tied for third place after the first two rounds of the IPFW Fall Classic on Monday at the par-71, 6,582-yard Deer Track Golf Course. Detroit leads the nine-team field at 545 and is followed by Loyola, which is six shots back (551). CSU and Youngstown State are nine behind Detroit. "We played two great rounds today," assistant coach Nathan Miklos said. "The course isn't too difficult, but you could get into a lot of trouble if you don't keep the ball in play. We need to make a few more birdies tomorrow to catch the leaders." Jake Scott is tied for seventh overall at 136 as he opened with a career-low 67 in the morning before shooting a 69 in the afternoon. The 67 is tied for the third lowest round in school-history. He trails Mark Sommerfeld of Detroit, Thomas Greene of Loyola and Ross Beal of Youngstown State by three shots as the trio is tied for the lead at 133. CSU's Kyle Cobb is tied for 10th, five shots out of the lead. The event will conclude on Tuesday morning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. The Vikings will be in the final groups with Detroit and Loyola. "We need to start out strong and put some pressure on Detroit and Loyola," Miklos said. "If we can cut a few strokes off the lead on the front nine, I think we have a shot." CSU RESULTS
