CSU Defeats Southern Illinois Edwardsville, 6-1
March 10, 2008 Contact: Jessica Gerich ORLANDO, Florida - The Cleveland State men's tennis team won the doubles point and four singles matches to win, 6-1, over Southern Illinois Edwardsville in their first match of their spring training trip in Orlando, Florida. The victory puts CSU at 9-3 on the season. Freshman Robert Fox and junior Rob West won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. The duo is 5-0 at No. 1 doubles this season. Freshman Chris Klepatz led the team with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Carlos Sanchez at No. 3 singles. West and Fox won at Nos. 4 and 5 singles, respectively. Junior Steven Wipprecht won 6-0, 6-1 over Jordan Faulkenburg at No. 6 singles. "We faced a good team today, a team that is close to the Division I level," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Our guys played well, being our first match outdoors. We worked a lot of points and it was good to be outside again." The Vikings face Connecticut on Monday, March 10.
