CSU Drops 4-3 Decision To Stetson
March 11, 2008 Contact: Jessica Gerich ORLANDO, Florida - The Cleveland State men's tennis team lost the final match of their spring training trip to No. 53 Stetson, 4-3, on Tuesday. The loss snaps a four match win streak for the Vikings and puts CSU at 10-4 on the season. The men won at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles to claim the doubles point against the Hatters. Sophomore Phil Orno stretched his singles match win streak to 11 consecutive matches, defeating Marcus Echtler, 7-6 (3), 7-5 at No. 1 singles. Freshman Robert Fox won 5-7, 7-5, 10-7 over Christopher Swanteson at No. 6 singles. "Today we faced No. 53 Stetson and came out with a great doubles win," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Our No. 2 doubles team of Fox and West came back from 7-4 to win the match. We had chances against a good team and this match is a huge stepping stone for our program.
