Coach Effner's Comments
"Ron is a two-time NCAA qualifier, where he has won a match each year, and is one of our co-captains. He represents all of what is good about coaching and being a student athlete. You never have to worry about him doing the right thing. Ron has significantly improved each of his four seasons to the point where we feel he is a national contender this year."

2004-05 - Junior Season
NCAA qualifier...finished third at 184 in the EWL Tournament, going 3-1 with two major decisions...went 5-1 in EWL dual meets, including two pins and a major...finished first at the Kent State Open, going 3-0 with two pins...picked up a win over Joshua Weitzel of Michigan State at the NCAA Tournament.

2003-04 - Sophomore Season
NCAA Championship qualifier at 184...despite entering the EWL Championships with a 6-16 record, rattled off three straight wins including an 11-9 sudden victory over Mike Greenberg of Lock Haven to win third place...went 1-2 at Nationals, notching an 11-4 win over Greg Giggord of Fresno State in the first round of the consolation bracket...had three major decisions on the year, including a 15-1 win over Ben Evans from Franklin & Marshall's...three of his six wins during the regular season came against EWL opponents, posting a 12-3 victory over Pittsburgh's Eric Cassidy...finished the year with a 10-17 record.

2002-03 - Freshman Season
Posted a 22-17 record, finishing second at the Slippery Rock Open on 11/23...after opening the year at 184, moved down to 174 and claimed a starting spot...recorded his first pin on against Korey Killburn of Ohio in 3:14.

High School
As a senior, was third in the state after finishing third in his district and winning a sectional championship...three-time all-league and two-time all-city selection...finished his career with a 104-30 mark...holds school record for most pins in a season...three-time team captain and MVP...also earned letters in football and track and field.
