REDFORD, Mich. - Cleveland State shot a final round of 361 and finished fifth of six teams at the Detroit Invitational contested Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 5,995-yard Western Golf & Country Club. "We never got anything going and the course really didn't suit our style of play," head coach Steve Weir said. "But that's not an excuse for how we played. We need to put together some good days of practice and get ready to play strong at IPFW." Oakland won the team title with rounds of 320-321 (641) and was followed by Dayton (654), Youngstown State (657), Detroit (666), Cleveland State (707) and Green Bay (753). Austin McDermaid of Oakland earned medalist honors by shooting a 10-over-par 154 (77-77) to pick up a five-stroke win. Sophomore Laren Beese was CSU's top finisher as she tied for 23rd at 175 (85-90). The Vikings will conclude their fall season next week (Oct. 15-16) when they compete at the IPFW Invitational at Deer Track G.C. in Fort Wayne, Ind. CSU RESULTS FINAL TEAM RESULTS |
