THE FIRST TEE: Cleveland State will travel to the IPFW Invitational on Oct. 15-16 for its fourth and final tournament of the fall season. The event will be played at the par-71, 6,102-yard Deer Track Golf Course in Fort Wayne, Ind., with the field playing 18 holes each day.

LAST TIME OUT: The Vikings placed fifth of six teams at the Detroit Invitational on Oct. 8-9 at the par-72, 5-995-yard, Western Golf & Country Club in Redford, Mich. CSU carded a 346 in Monday's opening round before concluding the tournament by shooting a 361 in Tuesday's final round. Laren Beese was CSU's top finisher as she tied for 23rd place at 175

THE HEAD COACH: Steve Weir, a 2006 CSU graduate, is in his first season as the head golf coach after serving as an assistant coach last season. In his lone season of golf for the Vikings (2006), Weir earned all-league honors and was a two-time Horizon League Golfer of the Week. He was instumental in helping the Vikings claim the 2006 Horizon League Championship as he placed 11th overall. In addition, he holds the school-record for lowest round as he carded an eight-under par 63 en route to a runner-up finish at the Belmont Intercollegiate.

YES, DEER: A trip to Fort Wayne, Ind. for the IPFW Invitational at Deer Track Golf Course could be exactly what the Vikings need. After disappointing finishes at the Western Illinois and Detroit Invitationals, CSU will travel to the IPFW Invitational and play a course where it shot a then-school record 322 in the second round on Oct. 17, 2005 enroute to a sixth place finish. CSU did not play in the IPFW Invitational last season.

TWICE AS NICE: Katie Broere leads CSU in scoring average this fall (81.8) and has been the Vikings most consistent golfer. Broere began the season by tying for second place at the Youngstown State Invitational (Sept. 9-10) before earning a tie for ninth at the Western Illinois Invitational (Sept. 16-17). At each event, Broere shot a final round 75, which was one stroke off the school-record of 74 held by Kristin Obush.

VIKINGS SET RECORDS: CSU opened the 2007 fall season by setting a school-record for lowest tournament score (629) at the Youngstown State Invitational (Sept. 9-10). In addition, CSU's second round total of 320 was a school-record. It bettered the previous low of 322 set in the second round of the IPFW Fall Classic on Oct. 17, 2005.
