ORLANDO, Florida - The Cleveland State women's tennis team won all but one match to defeat Southern Illinois Edwardsville, 6-1, to open their spring training trip in Orlando, Florida. The win pushes the Vikings to 10-3 on the season.

The Vikings swept the doubles competition on Sunday. Sophomore Charlotte Gibbons and senior Morgan Ungerott won over Connors and Horning, 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.

Freshmen Melissa Holzinger and Sanda Bjelan were winners, at Nos. 1 and 3 singles respectively. Senior Jenn Myers won 6-0, 6-1 over Kelsey Laird at No. 2 singles, while Sophomores Gibbons and Denisa Muntean won at Nos. 4 and 5 singles, respectively.

"We came up against a team that hit the ball very hard, but we were ready for it today," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We played good doubles and our hard work showed in this match."

The Vikings face Connecticut on Monday, March 10.
