Orno, Myer Tabbed CSU Student-Athletes Of The Month For April

CLEVELAND - Freshman Phil Orno and junior Jenn Myers -- both members of the Viking tennis squad -- have been recognized as Cleveland State's Student-Athletes of the Month for April. CSU Director of Athletics Lee Reed made the announcement on Thursday.

A native of Snekkersten, Denmark, Orno garnered first team All-Horizon League honors for his outstanding play this season. He went 4-1 during the month of April, including a win over league player of the year James Low of Butler on April 21. Orno, worked his way into the No. 1 singles spot at end of season and league championship, going 4-2 at No. 1 doubles with partner Ryan Hamning.

Myers went 8-1 during the month of April, including a 6-0 mark prior to the league championship. The Chillicothe, Ohio native completed the regular season undefeated against Horizon League opponents and helped lead CSU to a third place finish at league championship.

The Athlete of the Month award was developed this year to honor Viking student-athletes for their on-field accomplishments. A female and male honoree will be selected at the conclusion of each month during the school year. Cleveland State sponsors 17 varsity sports, of which baseball, men's & women's golf, softball and men's & women's tennis are currently competing.
